Latest reviews for "Over the Rainbow"

THE STAGE
The account of her insecurity, and indecision over her career path, is paper-thin for most of the evening and rather too smaltzy at the end. But all this is stunningly counter-balanced by the vocal performance of Nicole Faraday in the title role.
More familiar to television soap audience (Bad Girls and Emmerdale), she captures the Cassidy mix of soul, blues and country with bravado and magnificent timber, helped at times in the challenging array of more than 20 songs by Rose-Marie, once described as the Irish Bette Midler, as fellow songstress Mary Ann Redmond, and Robert Grose as music mogul Chuck Brown.
The five-strong band add considerably to the feel of a tribute show, with some of the best moments coming from the quieter numbers such as `Like Never Before` and the lachrymose finale of `What a Wonderful World.`

Summary: Heartfelt musical biography, strong on the vocal front but in need of a much-improved script.

TEESDALE MERCURY
if you enjoy the music of Eva Cassidy the performance from Nicole Faraday, as Eva, is outstanding. She changes the tone of her singing filling the many moods and styles of Eva's singing with ease. The standing ovation was certainly for her amazing performance throughout - See more HERE

"I came with my friend to see you in Over The Rainbow at the Lancaster Grand on the 18th September, we were sat on the front row, and wow what a show. I have been a huge Eva fan for years and at one point i closed my eyes and it was like i was listening to Eva sing, you certainly did Eva a huge justice how wonderful your voice is it was truly magical listening to you.
My very good friend Cathy lost her Mum to cancer when she was 18 yrs old, so it was sad but also very endearing for her, we both cried most of the way through more so in the second half and we both could of watched the story over again.
Thank you so much for coming to Lancaster wow what a performance"
